Make a difference

You don’t have to do anything huge to make a difference in someone’s life. Yes, it’s great if you can give someone a million dollars and instantly lift them out of poverty, but it’s not likely that you have an unneeded million dollars hanging around so that you can do this. But smaller amounts, given directly to someone or to a well-chosen charity, are also helpful. If you don’t have money to spare, you can volunteer somewhere – maybe at a soup kitchen, or as a Big Brother or Big Sister. Hold a door open for someone, or smile at them. Knit hats for the newborns at a nearby hospital, or scarves for people at a shelter. There are lots of ways to make a difference that don’t involve large amounts of money. Small things can make a difference.
