Think before you speak

Please take a second before you speak to think about what you are going to say. Is it kind? Is it necessary? Before you say something, check your motivation for saying it. Are you asking a question because you really want to know the answer? Is this the time and place to ask it?  Are you saying something to put someone else in their place? Remember that people are doing the best they can at the time. You pointing out to the mother of a toddler throwing a tantrum in the middle of the store that her toddler is throwing a tantrum in the middle of the store is not going to do any of you any good. You may walk away feeling superior, but your comment isn’t telling the mother anything she doesn’t already know (and is probably embarrassed about). It isn’t going to make the her feel any better, and it is not going to stop the toddler’s actions. Think before you speak – if it is not from a loving place, then don’t say it!
