One of the most useful abilities we can cultivate is the art of disagreeing with someone without being disagreeable. There are always things that people are not going to agree on, from the mundane (e.g.,what’s the best hamburger) to the epic (e.g., which is the best religion). It is so important to remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, including you, and there is rarely a ‘right’ answer. Stating your opinion in a manner that sounds like it is the only truth and people who don’t agree with you are idiots makes people unable to listen to what you are actually saying, and they respond to how you are saying it. If you state your opinion in a way that is meant to share what you think, rather than convince everyone that you are right, others may really hear what you say.
