Do you find yourself thinking that the reason you can’t lose weight is because you can’t afford a gym membership? Or that the reason you aren’t better at self-care is because you don’t have the money for a 2-hour massage? If so, take some of those beliefs out into the daylight and see if they are really true. I am not saying see if it’s true you don’t have the money; I am saying see if there is a true connection between those things. A gym membership might be nice, but you can walk for free. Or you can check out an exercise video from the library and work out at home.

What about the money and self-care connection? While a 2-hour massage could certainly be considered self-care, there are plenty of others things you can do that do not cost money. Meditating, gardening, reading, spending time with friends, spending time with friends, or even an intentional 3 minute shower could be self-care.

The point here is to not let a false connection be an excuse for something you really want to do. Shine a light on your beliefs and make sure they are true.
