When things start to feel overwhelming, I try to go back to gratitude. Gratitude helps me to center myself and regain my calmness. Sometimes it is hard to find things to be grateful for, and in those times I focus on the many small things that I don’t always remember. Walking barefoot outside, feeling the grass on my feet, grounds me and makes it easier to remember what I am grateful for. Writing down my gratitude list also helps me to remember. When I do remember what I am grateful for, life somehow doesn’t feel quite so overwhelming.
