There are many things in this world to be sad and upset about; there are also many things to be joyous and pleased about. Put your attention on the good things – notice and celebrate them. I am not saying to ignore the bad parts; work on the bad parts and try to make them better. Also stop to appreciate what is good in the world, small as well as large: that wondrous rose in your garden, your beautiful new grandchild, the fact that you made it through another year intact. Putting our attention on the good may help us to increase it.
