Get help if you need help!
It is important to recognize when enough is enough and it is time to leave. It can be a very difficult thing to do. Even as you know that it is time to go, you can be conflicted and be willing to give second, third, fifth, and even tenth chances and stay. If your gut (or inner voice, or whatever else you call it) tells you it is time to go, please pay attention. If you are being abused in any manner – physically, emotionally, or in any other way – get help and leave. There may be cases where the devil you know may be better than the devil you don’t know, but this is not one of them. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is one of many places that can help you. Their phone numbers are 1-800-799-7233 | 1-800-787-3224 (TTY). Please call someone if you need help.
