Set your boundaries

Setting your boundaries is an important part of self-care. I know people need help; if you can help them without running yourself ragged, then do it. And remember, it does not make you a bad person to take care of yourself and your family first. If you wipe yourself out helping someone else, you will end up unable to take care of yourself, your family, or anyone else. If people are making assumptions about what you can do, try taking the lead and offering what you can do and when you can do it. For instance, try saying, “I can come sit with your kids on Thursday afternoon from 2 to 4, and then again on Monday at the same time – would that help?” Remember to set and keep your boundaries.
