Treat people with respect: your elders, your boss, the janitor, the homeless. Yes, respect is earned, and perhaps the assumption should be that respect is, indeed, deserved until proven otherwise. Don’t make your decision on how someone looks; you may not know the story behind that. Treat people with the respect you would like to be treated with.
